🔍 What We're About
Infill Issues YEG is a community-led project created to support neighbours affected by unsafe or irresponsible infill development in Edmonton.
We believe in building a city that works for everyone — that includes more housing, more density, and more affordability. But it also includes basic safety, accountability, and respect for the communities where these homes are being built.
âť“ Are you anti-infill?
No. We’re pro-responsible infill.
We support Edmonton’s goal of increasing density and offering more housing options within mature neighbourhoods. But that doesn’t mean turning a blind eye to builders who cut corners, leave sites unfinished, or cause damage to neighbouring properties.
Infill done right strengthens communities. Infill done poorly creates stress, danger, and long-term costs for neighbours and future buyers.
âť“ Are you just a bunch of NIMBYs?
We’re not saying “don’t build here.” We’re saying:
“Build it right. Treat the community with respect. And be accountable for the harm you cause.”
This project isn’t about stopping infill — it’s about pushing back when people are left to deal with the fallout of construction that doesn’t meet even the most basic standards of care.
âť“ Do you hate affordable housing or low-income buyers?
Absolutely not. In fact, many of us are lower-income neighbours — and we're the ones being harmed when unregulated, low-quality builds are approved over and over again.
Unsafe or poorly built homes don’t help affordability. They become expensive, dangerous liabilities for the people who move into them — often first-time or budget-conscious buyers who don’t realize the issues until it’s too late.
We believe everyone deserves a safe, affordable, and properly built place to live. This platform is about making sure the system works toward that goal — not just for developers' bottom lines.
âť“ What does this site actually do?
We offer a place for Edmonton residents to:
- âś… Anonymously report issues with infill construction on their block
- âś… Search existing reports by builder name, street, or neighbourhood
- âś… Download printable signs to alert potential buyers of ongoing issues
- âś… Access resources to understand your rights and options
We also aim to increase transparency and amplify stories that too often go unheard. By naming patterns and holding repeat offenders to account, we hope to push for better enforcement, safer construction, and stronger neighbourhoods.
đź’ˇ In short:
We’re not against building.
We’re against being bulldozed.
